Another Summer in Montana

Becky and the boys have made a tradition of traveling back home to Montana for summer vacation, but this time I actually got to tag along! It was an Unbehend family reunion of sorts, so I didn't want to miss out. It was the first time all of the cousins have been together at once (at least this current updated version of the cousins). There are a lot of them. It was a mad-house at times. Non-stop action, non-stop shenanigans, but non-stop good times! It was a vacation to remember, and we will for a long time. Here are the first set of photos - just hanging out in the summer sun:

Back to the Beach!

Rockport was hit the hardest by Hurricane Harvey last fall, as the eye of the storm went right through town. In years past, we've taken quite a few trips up to the beach park, but we hadn't been back since the hurricane hit. I'd been through Rockport and seen the damage a few times, but thankfully they've been able to piece most of it back together now that it's almost a year later. The beach park looked pretty good. They replaced all the tiki umbrellas, and other than the missing crab sculpture, everything looked as it had before. This summer has been surprisingly mild so far, so it was an excellent day at the beach!

All-Star Summer

Baseball is over. It took a little bit longer this year, but it's done. It was a long, busy spring that faded into Summer and at times seemed to drag on and other times seemed to go by quickly. It was both stressful and exciting to watch. Both Adam and Nolan played this year, and played hard enough to get on their respective All-Star teams. Both of them have become pretty incredible ball players, due to a lot of time in the yard throwing the ball and a lot of time hitting the ball at the new fields in town. Nolan's T-Ball team got pretty beat up in the tournaments, but they did manage to win a couple of games and be competitive in a few others. Adam's team threatened to go the distance a few times, with a strong group of ball players and great overall kids on his team. It's over, but probably only for now... Fall Ball will be back before we know it! Here are some of the highlights from the tournaments, including a few action shots taken by one of the team moms...

It was a season to remember...

Another year older...

Son #1, Paul James, has been at the forefront of this blog since 2008. It's hard to believe it's been that long, and it's even harder to believe he's 11 years old already. But, you can't stop time I guess, no matter how much we may want to at times. Paul is headed for middle school in the fall... sixth grade. He just got his braces on, something we've known was going to have to happen for a while now. So he's learning to adjust having a mess of steel and wires in his mouth, which has been fun. But otherwise, he's living it up in summer, hanging out with friends and his brothers, and just enjoying not being in school for a few months. Here he is, getting older by the minute...

There's always room for more Legos apparently...

Got his own uke!

Ready to get things straightened out... and still supporting the hometown team all these years later!

Ready or not, here comes Summer!

The school year came to an end and so began another hot Texas summer! The boys have been running, sweating, and cooling off in the only way you can do it down here. Beach time or backyard sprinklers are required when the heat index begins to rise. The summer has already been busy with baseball and whatnot, but we're having a good time. Honestly, it's been fairly mild so far, so we're not complaining...

Another school year down for these two... thankfully still a long way to go.

When we got back from Missouri the boys spent a good portion of a week attending the baseball camp put on by the Corpus Christi Hooks players.

Paul spent the camp sweating in the bleachers and out beyond right field...

Nothing like summer beach nights...

And when you can't hit the beach I guess you hit the pool...

But we did finally get some rain this past week... a little too much maybe. That just means we're bracing for humidity and mosquitoes... welcome to summer!
