Foreign Travels

In late August and into September, I was fortunate enough to get to travel overseas for work (with a little free time...ok, quite a bit of it). I'd never been out of the states, so it was a new adventure. I traveled to Norway for a week or so, and then on to the UK. It was an incredible trip I'll never forget. I wish Becky and the boys could have traveled with me and I'm sure there would have been far more pictures if they had. Unfortunately, the plane tickets alone were a little outrageous, so I'm not sure when we'll ever be able to take five of us on a trip like that. Either way, I had stories to tell and souvenirs to bring back, so it all worked out. Here are just a few pics to remind myself to add this to the blog book I'll inevitably make at some point.

Play Ball...

Still trying to catch up on the blog, still way behind. But the Summer of '16 for us was somewhat dominated by baseball, now that I look back at the photos. In June, Adam was on the T-Ball all-star team and I coached to a series of defeats (oh well). We celebrated the 4th of July at a Hooks game and watched the fireworks under the bridge. Then Adam moved up to coach pitch and Nolan started Pee-wee T-Ball. Oh yeah, and the Indians fell to the Cubs in the 10th Inning of Game 7 of the World Series. They almost made it. Our baseball is done for this year, but what a year it was...

Future big leaguer...

'Merica!

Let's hear it for the Hooks!

June Vacations Part II - Montana

Becky and the boys made their annual trip to Montana. It's always a highlight of their summer to get to hang out with the grandparents and cousins. This year was just as fun:

... and Conner Samuel.

Just trying their best to drive Grandpa Bill crazy...

 Onward! Show us the horizon...

June Vacations Part I - The Drives and Utah

June was a fast paced month. Right after school and piano and baseball and scouts ended, we packed up and headed for the mountains. We made our way through Colorado where the boys saw snow for the first time in a long time, then went to visit cousins and Aunts and Uncles in Utah. Here are the first photos from that part of June:

Stopped to check out sort of a random National Monument in Aztec, New Mexico. We'd never heard of it, but stopped for breakfasts at a McDonalds right by it, so thought we'd check it out.

Walked around the Aztec ruins, crawled through the tunnels, and learned a little about how life was way back when.

I think this was on the drive back, but the boys never miss a chance to check out dinosaur related things.

High up in the Colorado mountain pass, they discovered some white frozen substance called snow. It's not something you see often in Texas, so they were excited about it.

On the way back I made everyone stop at this random volcano I saw from the highway. We drove up to the top and then hiked around the crater. It was hot, it was bug infested, but overall kind of cool.

Hung out with the Utah Sellers and Cousin Wyatt from Missouri, here climbing to the waterfall.

Even Grandma Cindy came along!

Even got to spend some time with Uncle Andy and Aunt Theresa!

Still behind... now May

May brought the end of the school year and the entrance to Summer. The boys goofed around as they always do, we took a trip with the scouts to NASA in Houston, and the piano semester ended.

 Just brotherly things...

Paul and his friends riding the tram around NASA's headquarters in Houston. Thankfully, there were no problems to call home about.

Myself and Adam Michael checking out the Saturn V rocket on display. NASA ran out of funding for the moon missions after they built this one, so it just sits in a warehouse for tourists to check out. It's big, as in really big.

Nolan made a friend he called Wormy. I'm fairly certain Wormy was eaten at some point.

Adam, aka Captain America, took his mother to the Super Hero Dance at the community center.

Paul... uh, was Paul.

And they all got dressed up for Paul's end of semester piano recital!
